Science Olympiad Basics

Competition: Includes events that require knowledge of forensics, biology chemistry, astronomy, earth science to those that require the construction of a device.
When: March 6, 2010 (Regional)
April 2010 (State)
May 2010 (National)
Where: Foothills High School, Pleasanton (Regional) Location TBD (State) Location TBD (National)
Teams: Two teams of 15, possibly three if we have enough people. Green team is the more competitive, requiring more commitment, White team is less competitive.
Team Placement: Team selection based on SciOly testing results, member profile information, commitment level, among other factors. If you haven't signed up yet, send an email to paloaltoscioly@gmail.com, or talk to one of the presidents

Science Bowl Basics

Competition: Fast-paced buzzer competition, with questions on all areas of science.
When: First meetings in November.
Competition in mid February, details to come later.
Where: Stanford Linear Accelerator Center
Teams: Two teams of 4

Election Results

In this election, 22 people voted, making the required plurality 40% of this, or 8.8.
For the office of logistics president, Kevin Hu and Erika Ji were the two candidates with the greatest number of votes, and no tiebreakers were required. Both Kevin and Erika had more than 8.8 votes.
For the office of engineering president, Albert Lin and Michael Yuan were the two only candidates, and both received more than 8.8 votes.
Congratulations to Kevin, Erika, Albert, and Michael, next year's Science Olympiad presidents.
